UK Private Companies - Uncertain Times

The Coronavirus epidemic has hit businesses across the world in a short span of time. In the immediate term, the market is focused on how quickly lockdown measures are eased and the pace of recovery in corporate profits. But we also need to consider the potential structural transformations being driven by this public crisis.

We think a post-crisis world will be more indebted, less global, and more digital. We will need to contend with higher taxation, financial repression, and moderately higher inflation, along with populism and protectionism, while navigating the transitions from global to local supply chains, and from physical to digital.

To discuss the current impact and longer term trends for private companies we hosted a call with Paul Donovan, Chief Economist, UBS GWM and Dean Turner, CIO Economist, UBS UK.

The value of investments may fall as well as rise and you may not get back the amount originally invested.
