The Saltire Scholar Programme seeks to identify the most ambitious and engaging student talent from Scottish universities and match them with host companies who can provide a meaningful and challenging work scenario. In order to make this possible, there are many aspects of the programme: from recruitment and admissions, to onboarding and logistics, which, by design, come with many specific strands of information. This page provides guidance on the most important aspects of the Speed Interview Stage.
No. We have a small number of Skype interviews which we offer to those who are not able to attend interviews in person. We must see evidence that you are not able to attend before opening one of these slots (i.e. evidence of university resits, medical appointments).
No. Although this is our final application stage, this is still competitive. Roughly 1 in 3 people within our candidate pool will secure an internship.
If invited to attend a speed interview, you will have two 15-minute interviews, back-to-back: one with a professional (someone from the Entrepreneurial Scotland team or a programme supporter) and one with a Saltire Brand Ambassador who has just completed the programme.
You will be interviewed in a room with up to 11 other candidates who are also being interviewed – so you can expect a fair amount of noise!
The interviews are competency-based and will assess your knowledge of the Saltire Scholars Programme and Entrepreneurial Scotland. To help you prepare for your interview, make sure you do your research on the programme and consult with your careers service about competency-based interviews.
These are professional interviews, therefore dress appropriately as you would for a job interview. First impressions are always important.
