2017 Saltire Scholars Programme Launch

Applications for the 2017 Saltire Scholar Internship Programme are now open!

The Scholars Programme offers fully funded internships to penultimate year undergraduate students from Scottish universities.

Saltire Scholar internships provide Scotland’s most talented individuals with the opportunity to work with leading organisations and work alongside global thought leaders, providing them with the experience required to establish their careers and create the next generation of business leaders for Scotland.

2017 marks the tenth birthday of the Saltire Scholars Programme and Entrepreneurial Scotland is looking to build on the success of the 2016 Scholars programme, which saw 143 students from 16 universities across Scotland take part in meaningful internships in 46 cities across the world.

Some highlights included re-thinking the way classrooms are built in Malawi, implementing a communication tool which will change the way a global bank work with their customers, designing handbags in New York with Michael Kors, lunch and learns with the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company and raising over £6,000 for charity.

2016 Scholar Monika Gopal, who interned with OPITO in Dubai, said, ‘gaining an internship through Saltire was my highest priority for the summer of my penultimate year and it has exceeded every expectation that I set. Dubai is just one location you could end up if you apply to the Saltire internship programme and wherever you go, you know you will be entrusted with real responsibility and your opinion will be valued.’

In 2017, the programme is aiming to offer 165 internship places to students. Applications for the programme must be submitted via our online platform and further information can be found on our website.

As we approach our 10th anniversary, the Saltire Programmes team would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have made it possible to continue the success of the programme, including our generous donors, University partners, our supportive network of Alumni and our host companies which offer Scholars the summer of a lifetime!
