ES recruit 5 scholars as part of Scotland CAN DO initiative

Get in touch! We want to hear from you about your experiences accessing enterprise support of all kinds and better understand the things you’re looking for the most!

Many of you have experienced the wonderful wealth of enterprise support on offer in Scotland, across different business stages, industries and sectors. Equally so, most of you have experience how difficult it can be to navigate this landscape of support and make the most meaningful and efficient connections, linking you to the right organisations at the right time, to help meet your specific needs at various stages of your business growth journey.

In our 2030 strategy, you’ll have spotted that we recognise and highlight the currently fragmented and complex support system for entrepreneurs, change-makers and innovators as a key component in slowing down Scotland’s economic growth and social progress. We want to find solutions to help address this challenge immediately. Some of you will now know that Entrepreneurial Scotland, endorsed by the Scottish Government, are now responsible for driving the ongoing and exciting development of the Scotland CAN DO initiative, providing the backbone of support to work across all ecosystem stakeholders and unlock collective impact, bringing the Scotland CAN DO (SCD) vision to life! This is an extension of our existing commitment to join up the ecosystem, as we aim to nurture and grow an efficient, easy-to-navigate and globally connected entrepreneurial ecosystem in Scotland.

Lead by our Scotland CAN DO Programme Executive, Rachel Wallace, we’ve recruited a group of 5 high-potential undergraduates, through the Saltire Scholar Internship Programme, in order to make sense of the wealth of enterprise support in Scotland. Wrapped in the SCD branding, the team are building a test version of an online aggregator that will showcase what enterprise support is available, and serve to inspire the ambitious, innovative and entrepreneurial minded in Scotland, through a range of digital content. While Scottish Enterprise and others have already gone a distance to start the process of mapping the ecosystem (see recently launched Scottish Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Guide), we believe that this is only a fraction of what can be done.

We want to hear from you about your experiences accessing enterprise support of all kinds and better understand the things you’re looking for the most! Share your thoughts and opinions with us about the support you’re currently receiving or have received in the past, telling us your success stories and your frustrations when turning to the Scottish entrepreneurial ecosystem for help! Maybe you’ve read the Scottish Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Guide and want to share your observations and opinions on how useful a resource is it?

Keep an eye on the SCD social channels in the coming weeks, as we ‘ask the audience’ for feedback! The first question we’ll be asking you is: ‘What support has turbocharged your business growth journey?’
