- Identify your potential acquirers and articulate a compelling story for each buyer group – select and position KPI’s, highlight potential synergies and demonstrate how your business can add strategic value.
- Identify possible value erosion – be realistic about where negotiation on price might come from and address these issues early on.
- Manage the expectations of all stakeholders throughout the process – advisers, existing and target shareholders, key customers and suppliers, senior management team etc. Good communication alongside strong shareholder alignment will ensure a more successful outcome for all your stakeholders.
