Roy launched Global Energy Group in 2005. It now has an annual turnover of more than £470m and a world-wide workforce of more than 4,000 people. His four sons all work in the business and in October 2011, the company purchased Nigg Energy Park and have invested over £14 million in its upgrade to date, with a further £40 million investment just commenced on expanding the quayside facilities.

Roy has won several awards for his entrepreneurship and work as Global is now the biggest private employer in the Highlands. Roy also received an OBE for his work in business and the community last year.
