Who You Run with Matters: The Power of the Right Peer Network

In conversation with Eilish McColgan, Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist & Olympian

Tuesday 17 March 2026 | 15:00 – 16:30

Success is rarely about individual talent alone - it’s shaped by the people around you.

We’re hosting a free webinar for business leaders who are curious about The Exchange by Entrepreneurial Scotland and want to understand the power of the right peer network.

In an exclusive fireside chat, Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and Olympian Eilish McColgan - one of Scotland’s most accomplished distance runners - will reflect on her journey at the highest level of sport. Competing and winning on the world stage, breaking British records and sustaining elite performance under years of pressure, Eilish understands first-hand that success is never a solo pursuit. Behind every medal, comeback and breakthrough is a trusted circle - coaches, training partners, mentors and peers who challenge, support and strengthen performance.

In an exclusive fireside conversation, Eilish will reflect on resilience, mindset and the critical role that the right people play in helping you go further than you could alone.

The discussion will be hosted by world-record endurance cyclist, broadcaster and investor Mark Beaumont, who will guide the conversation and draw out the lessons business leaders can apply to their own journeys.

The webinar is supported by members of The Exchange - including leaders from across Scotland and a broad range of backgrounds - who will host the breakout discussions.

Exchange Members Lesley Brydon (CEO, Clark Communications), Jude McCorry (CEO, Cyber & Fraud Centre – Scotland), Jen Paice (CEO, AC Wealth), David Wade (Managing Director, Enerpro), Steph Eady (Founder, Mission10), Helen McMillan (Client Experience Director, ValoremFirst) and Karen Shaw (Operations Director, BCA Group) will host breakout discussions, sharing their experiences of The Exchange and how it supports women leaders, leaders from underrepresented backgrounds and those building businesses across Scotland - including in rural and regional communities.

Breakout discussions are designed to give an honest insight into The Exchange itself: how the peer boards work, who they’re for, and how leaders - particularly those who may not always see themselves reflected in traditional business networks - find their circle through the programme.

The breakout rooms offer an opportunity to:

• Ask honest, behind-the-scenes questions
• Explore what it’s really like to be part of The Exchange
• Understand how trusted peer groups elevate decision-making, confidence and performance

Whether you’re exploring your next chapter, seeking stronger connections, or simply curious about how high performers surround themselves with the right people - this session is for you.

Because no one wins alone, and who you run with really does matter.
