Entrepreneurial Scotland recently hosted its inaugural Patrons Lunch, bringing together some of the nation’s most influential business leaders and supporters of Scotland’s entrepreneurial growth. Held at The Exchange in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square, the exclusive event featured an afternoon of connection, celebrating the power and potential of Scotland’s entrepreneurial community.
The event was held in support of the charity’s Saltire Scholars Programme, a flagship initiative that provides high-potential students with life-changing internship experiences, helping them develop the skills and networks necessary to drive Scotland’s future prosperity.
Keynote speeches from two of Scotland’s most respected business figures, Willie Haughey OBE and Bob Keiller CBE, provided guests with invaluable insights into the world of entrepreneurship. Both speakers shared their personal journeys, discussing the challenges and opportunities they faced throughout their careers. Their words resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the importance of supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs who will help shape Scotland’s economy in the years to come.
The day also featured a panel discussion featuring stakeholders of the Saltire Scholars Programme including alumni and host company partners. The panellists shared their experiences, highlighting how the Saltire Scholars Programme has played a pivotal role in helping to transform students and businesses alike. Their testimonials underscored the profound impact the programme has on young people, not only in building their confidence but in giving them the tools to become leaders in their fields.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the live charity auction led by auctioneer and broadcaster Natasha Raskin Sharp. Guests had the opportunity to bid on a range of money-can’t-buy experiences and memorabilia in support of the Saltire Scholars Programme. The auction raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Saltire Scholars Programme.
Entrepreneurial Scotland’s CEO, Sean McGrath highlighted the significance of the event:
“Scotland’s future growth and success will be driven by the potential of its young people. This event was a powerful reminder to our business leaders that investing in and empowering the next generation is key to ensuring a prosperous future for us all.
“The funds raised at the Patrons Lunch will allow us to offer even more opportunities through the Saltire Scholars Programme, ensuring that young talent across Scotland can access the support, connections and experiences needed to thrive.”
