Raheem Rogers
2026 Saltire Scholar
Ecommerce Sales Intern, ANTA
Economics and Finance student at Heriot-Watt University
Hello, I am Raheem, a final year Economics and Finance student at Heriot-Watt University, and this is my reflection about The Summer I spent at ANTA as an Ecommerce Sales Intern.
I applied to the Saltire Scholar program after attending their on campus session, here they explained what the aim of the organisation was and the various opportunities they offer to students to gain real world experience. As someone who was determined to find a summer role, they can improve themselves in, applying just felt natural.
I was able to secure a role at ANTA for the summer. Just like myself before you, ANTA may be a word you are seeing for the first time and not sure what it is.
ANTA is a business that makes homeware and lifestyle products, the founders had the idea of applying a modern approach to Scottish Tartan colours, it’s all in the name: TARTANTARTANTARTANTARTANTARTANTARTAN
ANTA sources all the wool for its products locally and highly values the use of sustainable and natural materials, doing all production on Scottish soil.
At ANTA my role was an ‘Ecommerce Sales’ Intern, focused on data analytics and how historic data can be used to aid future planning. My analysis spread across different parts of ANTA from products to customers and sales performance.
My main project revolved around providing products and customer insights that was then reported to senior management. During my time there I was privileged enough to see how the information I had gathered was used to help make informed decisions business wide.
In this role, my time was split between their Scottish Highlands head office and their Edinburgh Flagship Store, so I was afforded the opportunity to discover a place I had always wanted to visit, it may not be the same place or opportunity, but this is what you’re applying for as a Saltire Scholar.
Finally, if you are a student thinking about applying, the best advice I can give is to be 100% yourself and do it, the opportunities you get the chance at are endless. It is not an easy journey, but it is very rewarding, from the people you will meet and the experiences you will get to live. Do not be put down by rejections during the application process because they point out areas for improvement, so keeping determination and perseverance will be of great benefit to yourself.
