First Day Eve (19/06/2023)

I've settled into my airbnb which is 20 minutes away from the Aqualution base. I'm very excited to wear my new work outfits and meet the Aqualution team. They all seem lovely from the Zoom/ teams calls we've had so far. I've been doing product and market research over the last couple of days and I've already learnt so much. For example, unlike presentations at uni, you need to include all the information you can in team presentations. I've also learnt that in skincare, research is vital. A lot of products market themselves with 'fluff' and it's important to see a product you can trust - this and have a product that actually does what it says it's going to do. Finding a good balance between informative and overload is crucial in selling a new product, especially with a rise in 'skintellectuals' who research all there is to know about a product before buying it.

I'm excited to learn more about marketing, web development, and launching a product as the weeks go on.

Skills I've developed: research, attention to detail, analytical, communication, presenting.

First Day in the Office (20/06/2023)

Today was my first official day in the office. I got lost on the way and ended up being 5 minutes late but in my defence, everyone gets lost trying to find it the first time they visit - or so I was told. I got to meet the whole team at Aqualution and they were all very welcoming and friendly and I felt at ease right away. I'm very happy to be working alongside them as they all love to drink tea as much as I do! I'm also really enjoying the work. doing market research, especially for a cosmetic product, is very time consuming as the cosmetic industry is so huge but I'm enjoying the challenge (the real challenge is trying not to buy any cosmetic products.)

I've gained a lot of insight so far into how certain cosmetic brands market themselves and am fascinated by the language they use to sell their products. I've also gained a greater appreciation for marketing teams as this is what can make or break a brand. Seeing first hand the skills a good marketer needs to be creative but also efficient in getting a brand's message/ vision across to their target audience has given me a whole new level of respect for them.

Skills I've developed: interpersonal, analytical, research, attention to detail, communication, team work.

Science can be Aesthetic (21/06/2023)

I carried out scientific research today. I filtered through several different scientific papers, identified the credible ones, and summarised the key aspects of the papers so I can relay my findings to my line manager when I next see her and also present them to the rest of the team at the team brief.

I also conducted market research on different social platforms to identify the best way to utilise each individual platform for our product. I also got to design a mock up info card to go with the samples I was given to give to my friends and family so we can start to develop 'proof of results' for the product.

Skills I developed: analytical, communication, flexibility, adaptability, interpersonal, research, attention to detail, scientific research, autonomous.
