Hari Sandhu, Offshore Wind Component Supply & Demand Tool Development Intern, Xodus, Boston

I am interning with Xodus, an energy consultancy in their Boston office. My main project will focus on developing a supply vs demand forecasting tool for the US offshore wind market, a project and subject matter that I have developed a strong interest in just these first few weeks.

My main goal during this internship is to put myself out there in uncomfortable situations and seek opportunities from colleagues should any be offered to me and to ask as many questions as I possibly can about offshore wind!

I settled in very quickly into both my role and the company, being my first full time work experience and my first time working in an office going into it seemed daunting but as soon as I got in there and started getting to know everyone it felt like a seamless transition into working life.

The whole team at Xodus have been extremely supportive, encouraging me to ask as many questions that come to my mind as well as wanting me to get the most I possibly can out of the internship. I have been invited to team meetings and learning sessions to delve further into my interests and exploring the links between my degree in Environmental Science and the topic of offshore wind. I recently travelled to New Bedford with some of the team for an offshore wind networking event where we were able to see components in person!

The fear of travelling stood out to me the most both being in a new country as well as working out my daily commute to work, but it was something that I adjusted to easily and now it is a part of my routine it is no worry to me at all. I would also say I was worried about if my skillset was enough for this internship but discussions with members of the team have reassured me, I am on the right track, which has been very helpful.

I cannot wait to see what the next seven weeks have in store for me!
