Yesterday, our group of interns at IGS (Intelligent Growth Solutions) collectively joined forces and volunteered our time for Edinburgh & Lothian’s Greenspace Trust, for a rewarding day of gardening and weeding the ‘Wee Forest’. We aimed to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future while gaining valuable insights along the way by giving local trees the best possible chance to grow.

We chose Greenspace Trust as we share the vision for a greener future, and our collective effort that day was a small valuable step towards improving the aesthetics and biodiversity of the spaces we tended, starting with the ‘Wee Forest’.

The day of volunteering brought us closer as a group, giving us an opportunity to work together outside of our regular roles. Amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, it gave us a chance to reconnect with nature. For myself, to reminisce on the feelings I cherished back home in my countryside hometown. Living in the city has caused me to lose touch with nature, so this day left me feeling more connected and rejuvenated. It deepened my appreciation for nature, a stronger camaraderie, and a sense of purpose to continue to sow the seeds for a more sustainable and greener future.
