My experience so far being a 2023 Saltire Scholar has been a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop my skills in the workplace, be exposed to an international network and exploring a new country and its culture. I work in Brookfield Asset Management located in Toronto, Canada as a Capital Markets and Treasury Intern. The work that I have been assigned over the last few months has given my a great insight into what a large international asset management company does and what I can expect to see on a day to day basis. My team has been amazingly supportive and has helped me settle into Toronto life. Also, my fellow scholars that I am sharing this experience with have become lifelong friends that have made my time here unforgettable. I still have 3 weeks left of my internship and I am excited to spend my remaining time here expanding my global network and revisiting my favourite spots here in the city. I cannot recommend this experience more to anyone who is considering applying next year or the years to come as its unique opportunity to be able to live in an amazing city whilst gaining professional work and life experience is truly the best thing that I have ever done.
