As a Saltire Scholar for the Scottish Government Office in Canada I was able to develop my professional skills and knowledge whilst also experiencing the world of diplomacy first-hand.
My Saltire Scholar Internship was a truly invaluable experience, as it offered me the ability to develop my own skills whilst also contributing to my host organisation and making a real difference. I have come out of my internship with a new set of skills, improved self-confidence, and an insight into what working for the government is really like.
As a Saltire Scholar, I was able to connect with professionals from several industries, which has guided my own professional journey. I was also able to experience living and working in Canada, which exposed me to new perspectives and ways of thinking. Although I knew very little about Canada before my internship, I now have a real appreciation for the country and their perspective on international affairs.
Being a Saltire Scholar has been an incredible experience and has benefited me in so many ways, both professionally and personally, by allowing me to develop my skills and entrepreneurial potential and exposing me to different perspectives.
