I completed my summer internship at Rabbie’s Trail Burners, in Edinburgh, working within the finance department. Having undergone a sports science undergraduate degree this was a completely new avenue of work and one I had to quickly become accustomed to ahead of the busy peak season.
Throughout my time at Rabbie’s I have gained a valuable understanding of the finance sector and many transferable skills including managing accounts, customer and supplier relations, and working collaboratively with other departments. During my internship I have also integrated into a new team participating in meetings- discussing possible new ideas for the company going forwards particularly during user acceptance training (UAT).
The internship has been an amazing experience! Despite being challenging I have thoroughly enjoyed learning and improving day by day, with the adjustment to office life being made a smooth process with everyone at the company being approachable and making me feel welcome. I feel I have made a positive contribution to the overall process through helping with the functionality and design of a new system and being trusted with additional responsibilities, with this reflected in an offer to remain in the position for longer with the company.
