My time with Arvinas Inc, Connecticut, USA

This summer, I had the fantastic opportunity to work as a Platform Biology R&D intern at Arvinas in New Haven, CT. Throughout my internship, I learned various new laboratory techniques, how a potential drug target is researched and selected, data processing techniques, and how to present that data both in meetings and in a poster presentation. The data my supervisor and I generated are being used to further drive the project along, and will hopefully lead to the development of a therapy, though that will take another few years. Working in a team of enthusiastic scientists at various points in their careers was very inspiring to me, and gave me the opportunity to ask them about their previous experiences and any advice they could give. I also really loved working at a company where the people around me were very genuinely passionate about their work and the difference it could make in people's lives. I hope to work for, or maybe even be involved in a founding company that strives just as much to keep its employees happy and that works for their prospective patients. Overall, I had an incredible experience over the summer; I developed a lot of new skills, saw what my future career could look like and it has made me even more enthusiastic about my studies.
