I have just completed my first week as a sales analysis and account management administrator intern with Revolve Communications. Everyone at Revolve and Goodcall (their sister company) has been extremely friendly and supportive. My manager took me along to a meeting which was really eye opening as I was able to see how business to business interactions work. My project is to streamline sales processes and innovate approaches to sales and customer relationship management which I have already started working on.
I have had an amazing time and have already completed three projects. I have really enjoyed getting to see how Revolve operates and the day-to-day life of account managers in the telecommunication industry. I have also really enjoyed being able to foster relationships with colleagues. Revolve has a very close team and I had the pleasure of attending the Dundee and Angus chamber of commerce summer social event who introduced me to many wonderful professionals in a multitude of fields within the Tayside region. I have really enjoyed the work culture at Revolve and my supervisor has a style of management that allows me to really express myself and contribute in my own way to the company. My favourite moments in the internship so far would have to be attending the business development strategy meeting as it really opened my eyes on how businesses go about developing and growing themselves. Moving forward, I would like to keep soaking up as much knowledge as I can from this experience and then start to apply this knowledge in future projects that I will undertake.
As my first time in a full-time office role, this experience has had a huge impact on my professional development, I have been able to gain a key insight into various fields such as business to business sales, The technology sector, and financial services. I have also been able to better understand how to go about achieving objectives in a highly professionalised environment.
I managed to complete my initial two projects at a rapid pace which impressed the director of Revolve. I was then given a range of additional interesting projects which were a bit out of my expertise. I tackled them head on, ensuring that my work was up to standard and constantly looking at how to improve, completing the final objectives to the highest degree possible. All my projects were focused on business development as Revolve is embarking on a period of growth. I believe that through my completed projects I have been able to aid in Revolves preparation in pursuing their business development and growth plan.
This experience has equipped me with an array of new skills moving forward, from interpersonal skills to business research knowledge and an understanding of the day-to-day life as an account manager. I now have a stronger sense of confidence in myself and my abilities, knowing that I can succeed in a professional capacity if I push myself out of my comfort zone.
Being able to meet new people working in fields of all kinds was extremely interesting and everyone was super friendly and more than willing to share some experience and advice for a younger less experienced person like myself. The skills you learn from the application process all the way to the internship itself are life changing and will give you the fortitude and vision you need to chase whatever professional goals you may have. I am emboldened to continue developing myself at a rapid rate with the long-term goal of taking some of my entrepreneurial aspirations and bringing them to life.
