I’m currently living in Sydney, Australia, where I am working as a Lounge Strategy Intern at Sydney Airport.
The focus of my role is to optimise the current lounge offerings and reassessing the research on potentially opening a new lounge at SYD. This project is particularly exciting for me because it diverges from my academic background, offering me the chance to learn and explore new areas.
I’m eager to delve into this opportunity and gain valuable insights along the way.
My personal goal is to challenge myself by stepping outside of my comfort zone and becoming comfortable with not always knowing what comes next. Professionally, I aim to diversify my current skill set and become better at effective project planning techniques.
Adjusting to the host company has been smooth sailing thanks to the supportive team that has been there for us every step of the way. While settling into my role initially posed some challenges, the journey has since been excellent and I am fortunate to have an exceptional mentor who has provided invaluable guidance and support throughout.
In the airport, many tasks involve collaboration, which has been an incredibly enriching experience and a lot of fun. It’s taught me a lot of beneficial skills for when it comes to effective team work as well as managing different work styles.
Initially, I was worried about how well I would get on well with the other Saltire Scholars in Sydney however, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well we’ve got on and it feels like we’re one big dysfunctional family as we literally do everything together.
