The internship provides a unique opportunity to utilise my skillset in a large organisation, building my ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. I would like to see myself building confidence in my ideas and better articulate my ability to present them to the teams I am working with. Professionally I would like to build on my ability to present to an audience and feel confident in what I am presenting, focusing on providing clear and concise information.
Working within a new team is a scary endeavour. Luckily for me, everyone within The Workforce and Delivery Team has been very welcoming. I've settled into the team very comfortably and I have been made more than welcome to ask questions (and I have had plenty of questions!) or get involved in meetings where I can. My first experience of working with my team was via a Winter Working Pack, in which this health & safety brief is sent throughout the company and aims to reinforce safe working practices as the more difficult weather rolls in. I provided feedback from the perspective of someone who has not worked on last year's pack, advising on a multitude of aspects as to how it could better be implemented for this year. My project will be mainly focused around delivering a small gym within the Shettleston premises, this gives me the opportunity to directly use my degree knowledge to implement a viable gym and wellbeing rooms.
Throughout my experience at Network Rail I have noticed I have become more confident in myself, my ability to articulate the project I’ve been working on and relay this to other parts of the business have massively improved.
