Since identifying the students who have the most potential of being tomorrow’s leaders for Scotland back in January, this Candidate Pool cohort of 425 individuals have been busy applying to the internship vacancies that have been sourced by our Business Development team across the USA, Canada and the UK.
So far, 97 roles have been advertised, receiving an incredible 1478 applications. Candidates are tailoring their CVs and Cover Letters based on the internship descriptions provided by these host companies. Ranging from 10 to 50+ applicants per role, the Scholar team have had the hard task of whittling these down to just 3-4 before then presenting them to the host company for their final interview.
Programme Manager Kelly Glass said “Even though these candidates have made it through two rounds of recruitment, this Candidate Pool stage is still very competitive. Every year we are taken aback by the range of experience and skills students have to offer at such a nascent stage in their career. It’s a privilege to read their applications and connect them with businesses who are in need of their fresh perspectives and dedicated input”
This year the programme is welcoming back numerous companies who have hosted Scholars before, from as far afield as the Wood Group in Houston to Social Investment Scotland. The passion to ignite and support the careers of talented students from Scotland is also shared by companies who are partnering with the programme for the first time, including KPMG in Toronto and LifeArc in Edinburgh.
