Penultimate year, undergraduate students at Scottish universities are eligible to apply for life-changing paid internships at top worldwide companies.
The Saltire Scholar Programme open to students in all degree disciplines and we do not take exam results into account. Over the last 15 years, Saltire Scholars have worked on commercially relevant projects in leading entrepreneurial companies from large multinational corporations to incubator start ups. All internship projects have tangible outcomes and our Scholars have worked in marketing/comms, sustainability initiatives, non-profits, investment banking, business development, research, AI, VR and beyond.
Typically, we have a good mix of students from Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences — but we're always looking to expand the candidate pool and their specialisms.
Based on application numbers from recent years, we'd like to make a particular appeal to any eligible Computer Science/Informatics students to consider applying to the Saltire Scholar programme. There are many host companies who'd greatly benefit from your fresh perspective and it would be an excellent opportunity for you to kickstart your future career path.
We encourage host companies to make specific plans that best utilise the skills and thinking of each Scholar, and the feedback we've received from companies has been exemplary.
Following their highly successful launch in 2020, virtual internships will continue to be available at companies in the UK and internationally — allowing Saltire Scholars to complete their internships remotely via digital communications and opening up a wide range of possibilities for host companies.
There are companies across the globe looking for fresh perspective and enthusiasm from our candidates, and virtual internships provide a great CV opportunity without the complication of international travel and accommodation.
More details on virtual internships — including perspective from 2021 Scholars — can be found here.
